The Roaches

Brothers Lee and Sean Poole first started writing together back in 2003. Within a few months they formed the band ‘Neverless’ and began playing the local pub circuit in South-East London. Charlie Fleming joined in 2006 and shortly after it was decided that a new sound and a new direction was needed. Ian knock joined the line up early 2008 and within 8 months a full new set was written, and the band was renamed ‘The Roaches’...

Nixa

" There’s nothing about NIXA to suggest that this is the work of a fledgling band. Astonishingly assured and bursting at the seams with weighty riffs, Guerilla packs more ideas into its short running time than many established acts manage in an entire album. The speedy, fat-bottomed 33 blends sweeping metal melodies with a disco beat that transforms into percussive carnage. It frequently heads off in serpentine directions that are thrillingly unpredictable. Meanwhile, Clarity strips back the layers to reveal the emotion in the bands moving three-part harmonies. If this is a taster of what’s to come on their first full length, you’ll be hearing more from this lot."
EMMA JOHNSTON, KERRANG!

"...done very, very well. Deep, powerful voice, BIG music and just the feeling that something very professional is happening -I don't mean in a clinical way, just in that way that, when you find out they're unsigned, it's a bit of a shock!"
MARSHA SHANDUR, XFM

Gaolers Daughter

As you'd expect from a band made up of musicians that have helped forge the sound of London over the past 5 years, Gaoler's Daughter's sound is heavily rooted in the capital.

Despite the fact that this uber-collective features ex-members of Larrikin Love, Littl'ans, No Picasso and Letters From London, they sound unlike anything else you will have heard before. Their unique sound draws on a wide range of stylistic touchstones, whilst avoiding categorizations and comparisons.

Rowdy, stomping rhythms shift in an instant to beautiful, uplifting melodies, which are set against dark brooding harmonies. John Sterry's sensitive vocals stand in stark contrast to the often disturbing content of his lyrics. Alex Mahood's guitar, washed in reverb, cuts uplifting counter melodies into the driving, yet measured rhythms created by Alfie Ambrose and Ben Hutchinson.

The boys ended 2009 on a high, with their debut EP released at the end of November, followed by an exclusive launch party at London’s Pure Groove, a sold out celebratory gig at Camden’s Tommy Flynn’s, and support dates around the UK, on a Babyshambles mini tour

The Caper Story

Here's a brand new band who we think you should be very excited about:
The Caper Story.
Our excitement levels are high because it contains a multinational line-up of musicians cultivated from London's mod/60s scene. The two Swedes, two Italians and a German are simply friends who have decided to make music together because they can. Singer Marcus is known for his DJing skills at Hard As Nails, and his full-throated vocals really stamp an identity on the bands' garage/blue-eyed soul sound.

'The demos of 'Foundation', with its driving and insistent beat, sings about the joys of music, whilst 'Hands Up' spirals skywards in a swirl of primal urges. Expect them to heavily push this sexy sound through regular live performances this coming year' - Mod Culture magazine

Black Daniel - 20th Feb Line Up

"Black Daniel are the best new band in the world, they sound like a cross between the beastie boys and the modern lovers. Don't take my word for it. I am not a music journalist. I can't do them justice, so I won't. Watch this band!"

Dynamo Garage

Formed in 2001, the band's first gig was in the garage of guitarist Max Jones, after which the group is named. Since then they have played pubs, clubs, old cinemas, bingo halls, beaches and bonfires all over the UK.

Last year they travelled to Madrid, Spain, playing at the inaugural ‘Abril no tan cruel festival’, getting coverage from national newspaper ‘El Pais’ and being played on national rock radio. They are currently recording an EP, Landlocked, at SARM studios London, with Aaron Horn, which is set for release in April, and have been played by XFM's John Kennedy, who calls them “A band that's definitely worth checking out”.

Dynamo Garage are made up of drummer Alex Jackson, guitarists Max Jones and Chris Shipley, singer Sam Overs and bassist Jim O’Reilly, and are currently playing and putting on nights all over London to an ever-growing fanbase.
"Dynamo Garage consist of five raffish young men from North London who make considered and indeed considerate guitar-based noises which are subtle and spacious and thoroughly twinkly." Fierce Panda.

The Moon

The bass player is his pimp and coincidently a vampire who takes her energy by sinking her fangs into 9 Volt PP3 batteries. The guitarist is a Project Manager dealing in the methods of spacetime with the rhythm guitarist and the drummer being two of his commodities in the form of mathematical equations which equal zero and 8 (both to the power of minus one).

The whole band are made of liquid nitrogen encased in the translucent gel which made Dr. David Kelly realise that there was no point in him carrying on as a weapons inspector due to the lack of hope for mankind. Dr. Kelly then applied for a job as a spare change distributor with Gala Bingo in Pontefract West Yorkshire, didn't get it and then topped himself accordingly. All of this is true and I can prove it all in a court of law.

Bubblegum Screw

"Nothing will ever impress us more than a band that plays their rock'n'roll honest, original and inspiring. Nothing. But a band that doesn't only play that shizz, talk the talk and wear it well, but one like Bubblegum Screw that really lives and breathes what it projects on stage.. now that's something special."
(BUBBLEGUM SLUT zine)

"A mixture of New York Dolls and the Stooges all in one. Very "Glam trash" is the best way for me to describe them. Very Velvet Goldmine meets CBGB, this EP is fabulous! Singer Mark Thorn is amazing with his vocals and the guitars make you wanna get drunk and go nuts! After hearing this CD I now MUST see them live. Very original with heavy influences at the same time makes this EP one true AMAZING album! Perfect from first to last track I can safely say I'm a huge fan!"

The Sly Tones

" These freaks put on an AWESOME show unlike any you’ll have seen before! They represent the true underground rock scene; messing with your mind with their insane blend of Psychedelic Garage Blues. A singer whose voice can only be described as Jim Morrison on Speed; they’ll steal your girlfriend, despoil your innocence and leave you trembling in a hail of twisted feedback."
XYZ Magazine - James Watts

"Cancel my subscription to the revolution… Just get me an album by the Sly-Tones."
"… And I thought Jim Morrison was dead. It’s not true. At least I believe he’s been re-incarnated as Ashley Edwards, the lead singer of The Sly-Tones here in Brighton. The rest of the band are pretty hot too! Great guitars and keys with solid support from the bass/drums engine room. The songs are all hard hitting garage-phyche-punk anthems of the first order. Run Rabbit – not exactly Bud Flanagan and Chesney Allen – but just as impressive and a thousand times sexier."

- Abi Rhodes; Independant Critical Reviews
